A: NSWM is an Arkansas-based, veteran-owned business specializing in wilderness medicine education. We offer hands-on training in first aid, survival skills, and emergency response tailored to outdoor environments.

Q: Who are your courses for?
A: Our courses are for everyone—from outdoor enthusiasts, kids, teens, hunters, and hikers. We also offer specialized training for professionals like teachers, police officers, and military personnel.

Q: Where are your courses held?
A: We offer both on-site trainings across Arkansas and surrounding states, as well as custom courses for schools, businesses, and community organizations. Some courses are hosted at local parks, event spaces, or public spaces depending on the topic. We can also come to you! We can set up a course at your business, school campus, or a location of your choosing.

Q: What kinds of courses do you offer?
A: We offer two main types of courses:

  • Comprehensive Courses like Wild Med Core, Advanced, Survival, Kids, Educators, and Hunters

  • Specialty Courses like Heat Illness Response, Envenomation First Aid, Wilderness First Aid for Schools, and more.

Q: Are your courses certified?
A: Many of our courses include certification in wilderness first aid and CPR. We follow nationally recognized guidelines and tailor content to Arkansas-specific risks and conditions.

Q: How long are the courses?
A: Courses range from half-day workshops to multi-day intensives. We also offer monthly enrichment sessions for schools and youth programs.

Trainers & Background

Q: Who teaches your courses?
A: Courses are led by our co-founders: a licensed Arkansas teacher and a licensed physician assistant who is also an Army veteran with years of military medical experience.

Q: Do your instructors have field experience?
A: Absolutely. Our instructors combine real-world experience in military medicine, emergency response, and outdoor education with formal medical and teaching credentials.

Q: How do I book a course or event?
A: You can contact us directly through our website or email us to schedule private group sessions. We also post public course offerings and registration links regularly.

Q: Do you travel for events?
A: Yes. We serve communities across Arkansas and are willing to travel for large group trainings or partnered events.

Q: What should I bring to a class?
A: Once registered, you’ll receive a packing list tailored to your course, but in general, you’ll want to wear comfortable outdoor clothes, bring water, a notebook, and any personal medical gear you'd like to practice with.
