Educators are often the first adults present when a medical emergency occurs at school. Whether it’s a classroom injury, a student medical crisis, or a larger-scale emergency, there is always a critical window of time before the school nurse, school resource officer, or EMS can arrive. Wild Med: Educators is designed to prepare teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, coaches, bus drivers, and support staff to confidently recognize, respond to, and manage emergencies during those crucial first minutes.
This course focuses on realistic situations school personnel face every day, including cuts and bleeding, head injuries, diabetic emergencies, seizures, asthma attacks, allergic reactions, heat illness, fainting, nose bleeds, and dehydration. Participants learn how to assess situations calmly, provide appropriate immediate care, differentiate between behavioral and medical concerns, and stabilize students until professional help arrives.
We also address major trauma and mass casualty response within a school environment. Educators are trained in immediate bleeding control, basic triage principles, classroom management during high-stress events, and coordination with first responders. Special attention is given to maintaining accountability and leading students effectively while simultaneously caring for the injured.
Because emergencies extend beyond the classroom, this training also covers field trips, bus incidents, and off-campus events. Participants learn communication planning, emergency kit preparation, and how to manage medical situations when separated from on-site medical staff. We also offer a review of basic student safety policies and procedures; the seemingly everyday, common sense things that are sometimes overlooked. We can help your buildings prepare and implement a plan that inspects all aspects of building security, student safety, and overlooked threats.
Wild Med: Educators is hands-on and scenario-based, building confidence through practical skill repetition rather than lecture alone. Schools may also add American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid certifications alongside our proprietary course. We travel to schools and tailor each training to the specific needs, layout, and protocols of the campus.
Teachers may not be medical professionals, but they are first responders by proximity. This course equips school personnel with the clarity, confidence, and practical skills needed to act decisively in the critical minutes before professional medical care arrives.
